The Meeting of the BRICS National Security Advisors was initiated by the then chair Russia in 2009 and has been held 11 times so far. It serves an important platform for the BRICS countries to exchange views and carry out cooperation in the field of political security, and is of great significance for the BRICS countries to strengthen strategic communication, enhance political mutual trust and increase the influence of international affairs. The main topics of the NSA meeting include international situation, global governance, regional hotspot issues, strategic and security issues, counter-terrorism issues, security in the use of ICTs, energy security and biosecurity, etc.
