The 7th BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting

On September 22,2022, the 7th BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting was held in Beijing in virtual format. Mr. Zhang Jianhua, Administrator of the National Energy Administration of China, chaired the meeting.


Zhang Jianhua said, the BRICS countries have gone through a glorious journey of 16 years together. Their influence in global governance has steadily increased. Energy cooperation is an important area of BRICS pragmatic cooperation. BRICS countries have been working together to address risks and challenges, promoting the establishment of a reliable, stable and affordable energy supply system, and jointly safeguarding an open, transparent and efficient international energy market, which is of great significance to the global economy.


Participants fully exchanged and shared the energy development of each country, discussed about the future development of the BRICS energy research cooperation platform (ERCP), and reached broad consensus on further deepening BRICS energy cooperation, promoting green and low-carbon energy transition, and intensively participating in global energy issues. The meeting adopted the Communique of the 7th BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting and released the BRICS Energy Report 2022, the BRICS Renewable Energy Report 2022 and the BRICS Smart Grid Report 2022.


The Minister of Mines and Energy of the Federal Republic of Brazil, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries of the Republic of India, and the representative of the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy of the Republic of South Africa attended the meeting.
