On 26 May 2022, the BRICS Workshop on Anti-Corruption and Economic Development was held online by the National Commission of Supervision of China, bringing together over 60 participants from the governments, enterprises and academic community of BRICS countries and relevant international organizations.

The workshop discussions covered the topics of “Anti-Corruption in the Public Sector for Economic Development”, “Business Integrity for Economic Development”, and “Anti-Corruption Creates Clean Cultural Environment for Economic Development”. The participants shared the same view that fighting corruption and upholding fairness and justice are conducive to sound and sustainable economic development. BRICS countries, at a similar stage of development, share the common task of combating corruption while developing the economy. BRICS countries will further strengthen mutual learning in anti-corruption and economic development, constantly improve cooperation mechanisms and contribute to global anti-corruption governance.

The workshop is a thematic event under China’s presidency of the BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group this year. The BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group was established in 2015, as an important platform to implement the anti-corruption consensus reached by BRICS leaders and promote anti-corruption experience sharing and practical cooperation.
